ABOUT

Laura has been practicing architecture in the Bay Area for 23 years. She is a California licensed architect, with degrees from Brown University and UC Berkeley. She was previously an associate principal at Fernau + Hartman Architects in Berkeley, where she managed award-winning projects at a variety of scales, from residences to university planning, from the reconstruction of a landmarked preservation project to ground-up construction.

She delights in solving spatial problems and improving clients’ lives with thoughtful design, and she brings creative solutions and a practical point of view. She is a good listener and strongly believes that the collaborative process of working with clients and contractors is critical to a successful project. Sustainable strategies are always part of her design thinking.

Her first introduction to architecture was by way of her grandmother, historian Sara Holmes Boutelle, who chronicled the life and work of notable Californian Architect Julia Morgan.
